Who are Swan Netball Club and why do they need our help? A note from Sonja, Chair of Swan Netball Club Swan NC was founded in 1985, is based in Eastleigh & is an inclusive Club, servicing the whole of Eastleigh Borough. We offer competitive netball opportunities from aged 8 to 50+ years & focus on "turning potential into performance" for all levels of ability. We have 21 teams playing in a range of leagues up to Regional level and have close links with many schools, the NDO and EBC Sports Development Officer to promote netball for all and encourage development of officials/volunteers. We are a Silver Caps accredited club, working towards our Gold award. Financing a club of this size takes many hours to oversee and with onset of the COVID-19 pandemic comes additional costs that the club had not foreseen prior to this pandemic. All of our members have been affected by the pandemic and ensuring their safety and return to Netball is overseen in line with Government guidance and our NGB guidance from England Netball to return to play for community and grassroots is high priority for our Club Committee and COVID-Team. To ensure safety for ALL members as we return to play and ongoing - First aid kits have been updated with additional PPE last year (aprons/masks/sanitiser/bin bags/anti bac spray/gloves/temperature testers). However, additional cleaning sprays and cloths will be needed to clean all equipment thoroughly between sessions when we return ensuring risk of contamination is kept to the absolute minimum and costs to maintain these supplies are a lot when you have so many teams. This gives coaches, players and all personnel at the club peace of mind and reassurance that all participants can return safely. Potentially new Club equipment will be needed - new balls for the new season when we restart and to ensure every player has a ball for home training. So any additional funds raised would be used to benefit all players. Balls vary in price but by bulk buying we usually can get them for roughly £12 each. Safety and reassurance to all our members is paramount and in order to do this we would really appreciate any support/fundraising financially rather than asking for our members some of whom have lost their jobs through redundancies, lack of earnings as not furloughed or just generally feeling lockdown financial pressures.
